Joint Pain and Inflammation

Osteoarthritis is the most common disorder of the joints and the leading cause of disability in the elderly.  It is a relatively common condition.  More than 30% of all adults aged between 45-64 years old experience some of the symptoms of arthritis, and this percentage climbs to more than 50% for adults aged between 45-64 years.  Typically, the most common symptoms experienced are joint pain and restricted joint mobility, often due to joint  inflammation.  Traditionally used herbal therapies for joint pain and inflammation have been actively utilised for many centuries and can be an effective way of relieving the symptoms of the disease

Symptoms

The typical symptoms are pain, inflammation, swelling and restricted movement.  These can be more or less intense depending on previous levels of physical activity, diet or even the weather conditions.

Causes

The joint pain and inflammation accompanying osteoarthritis are typically part of the ageing process.  The severity can be exacerbated by previous injuries to the joint, such as a sporting injury or an accident.  It is important to seek professional advice from your Healthcare Practitioner, especially if the symptoms persist, to exclude any more serious conditions that may be causing the pain or inflammation.
