Magnesium or Mg is a mineral that is necessary for a variety of life processes. This is true even though it is a trace mineral that makes up only about 0.05 percent of body weight. Most of it is found in the bones while about 30 percent is found in the bodily fluids and soft tissue. Magnesium is found inside the cells, where it switches on enzymes that help the body metabolise carbohydrates and amino acids. It balances the acid-alkaline ratio in the body. It is found in a great many foods, include green, leafy vegetables.
